OGDEN APPROACH

design: JPU architects

This landscape transforms a thirsty yard in disrepair into a xeric series of transitions, creating a refined site that adapts to the rhythm of its surroundings.

Concrete retaining walls match the height and depth of those on the adjacent property, formally delineating elevated yard from right of way. Terraces retained with weathering steel emerge from the graded slope of the southern abutting property, opening the stairs to the sun in the winter.

Native grasses and wildflowers replace the old lawn while avoiding abruptly marked property lines, and a combination of gravel and ornamental shrubs celebrates the transition of seasons with year-round visual interest.
